For this project I explored and experimented with many different shapes and forms to create a unique wine rack. I explored how function can be derived from a shape, and how different materials can become incredibly resistant when used in certain ways. This wine rack was made by folding many layers of card by soaking them in alcohol, shaping them and the letting them dry before covering them in casein. I find pleasure in taking everyday concepts and objects, redesigning and manipulating them to make them playful and interesting; but still functional. I believe I achieved this with this project. I also began to understand the importance and impact that shapes and forms have on objects, and hence spaces. I became aware that there are endless ways of using already existing concepts and materials to create new and innovative designs.
